Chalk & Board candidates have direct support from Lead Instructor, Nathan Ronen, CFA for their course, content, and exam-related questions. CFA® Level I

Exam Preparation Courses

Using the Ronen Methodology, you’ll master exam curriculum concepts without rote memorization. Direct access to Nathan (via phone, text, chat, and email) for support on all exam preparation material ensures that you learn faster and more effectively.

Our Level I exam preparation courses are the first step on the path to achieving your status as a CFA® Charterholder.

Exam Overview

  • 240 questions split between morning and afternoon sessions
  • Morning session (3 hours): 120 multiple choice questions, covering all 10 topics
  • Afternoon session (3 hours): 120 multiple choice questions, covering all 10 topics
  • Two multiple choice question formats: (1) Three unique choices; and (2) Sentence completion with three unique choices
  • Exam results for candidates are made available within 60 days of the exam date

To meet the needs of our global candidate audience, Chalk & Board offers both live and recorded lesson options with direct support by Nathan. Customized classes or workshops for corporate/group training or individual private tutoring are available upon request.

  • 50 hours of recorded lectures that rigorously cover the 10 CFA Program curriculum areas.
  • Candidates will apply learned concepts to CFA® exam-type multiple-choice questions.
  • Candidates have direct access to Nathan for questions related to the Level I program.
  • It is highly recommended that candidates supplement the on-demand video lectures with the one-day intensive Problem Solving Workshop.

Key Features

  • Candidates learn in a structured classroom setting with live instructor interaction.
  • 16 live lectures (3 hours per lecture) held once per week that cover the 10 CFA Program curriculum areas.
  • Candidates will apply learned concepts to CFA® exam-type multiple choice questions.
  • Candidates have access to Nathan outside of the live lecture sessions for questions related to the Level I program.
  • It is highly recommended that candidates supplement the live weekly lectures with the one-day intensive Problem Solving Workshop.

Key Features

  • In this one-day intensive workshop, candidates are given 240 unique CFA® exam-type multiple-choice Level I curriculum questions under simulated exam conditions. The video recording of this workshop will be made available on the following day for candidates globally who are unable to attend in person.
  • Answers to the questions are reviewed and in-depth explanations provided so that candidates understand how to differentiate the possible answers.
  • Candidates receive a formal answer key with explanations and associated Learning Outcome Statements (LOSs) at the end of the workshop.
  • Candidates have access to Nathan for questions related to this workshop.
  • It is highly recommended that candidates attend either the Live Weekly Lectures or the On-Demand Video Lectures prior to taking the Problem Solving Workshop as the workshop builds on the concepts learned in these sessions.

Key Features

  • The mock exam is designed to test a candidate’s state of readiness for the CFA Level I exam and signifies the final phase of a candidate’s CFA preparation strategy.
  • The Level I Mock Exam consists of 240 unique CFA® exam-type multiple-choice questions covering all Level I topic areas.
  • The exam is self-administered.
  • Candidates receive a formal answer key with detailed explanations and references to the Learning Outcome Statements (LOSs).
  • It is highly recommended that candidates attend either the Live Weekly Lectures or the On-Demand Video Lectures prior to taking the Mock Exam.
